Machine Learning for Power Systems: From Pure DataDriven to PhysicsInformed Methods
The electric utility industry is being swamped by petabytes of data coming from various sources such as smart meters, phasor measurement units, SCADA systems, geographical information systems, and customer management systems. The primary and secondary value imbedded in the complex and heterogeneous data sets from power systems is immense. However, algorithms and applications for unlocking the potential of big data in power systems are at an early stage of development. Although offtheshelf machine learning algorithms could improve the efficiency, reliability and resiliency of power systems, their potential is limited by the lack of physicaldomain knowledge. This talk first covers the key applications of machine learning in power systems. Then I will present various pure datadriven and physicsinformed machine learning algorithms for power transmission and distribution systems.

Lecture Title: A Generalized Central Limit Conjecture for Convex Bodies
The central limit theorem for convex bodies says that with high probability the marginal of an isotropic logconcave distribution along a random direction is close to a Gaussian, with the quantitative difference determined asymptotically by the Cheeger/Poincare/KLS constant. Here we propose a generalized CLT for marginals along random directions drawn from any isotropic logconcave distribution; namely, for $x,y$ drawn independently from isotropic logconcave densities $p,q$, the random variable $\\langle x,y\\rangle$ is close to Gaussian. Our main result is that this generalized CLT is quantitatively equivalent (up to a small factor) to the KLS conjecture. Any polynomial improvement in the current KLS bound of $n^{1/4}$ in $\\R^n$ implies the generalized CLT, and vice versa. This tight connection suggests that the generalized CLT might provide insight into basic open questions in asymptotic convex geometry.

Finding Your Center With Grounding Meditation
When you meditate, your personal energy field—your aura—expands. In this expanded state, you can more easily connect with the Divine and the spirit realm. When you expand your vibrations to work spiritually, you need strong roots. Think of a tree. The bigger the top branches, the deeper and stronger the roots need to be, otherwise the tree will topple over. As you develop your ability to energetically expand, if you choose not to ground yourself every day, you may grow disconnected with this world. You can end up experiencing varying degrees of dissociation, which is a separation from yourself and this reality. You may even become physically ill. These circumstances can be avoided by grounding.
