Welcome to Astana Kazakhstan! Within twelve hours of landing in Astana Kazakhstan for the first time, I was out exploring the city! I had been wanting to come to Astana for a long time and it was just as beautiful and interesting as I thought it would be. It’s a very new city with a really nice modern twist to it while still be authentic to the Kazakh culture. Please forgive me if I mispronounced some of the names haha. I will do my best to learn Kazakh and Russian in my future videos of central Asia ^^

Design Expo 2017: MIT, Cambridge
Each year, Microsoft Research sponsors a semesterlong class at leading design schools. Students are asked to form interdisciplinary teams of two to four students to design a user experience prototype that solves a realworld problem. From these groups, a representative team from each school presents their work at Microsoft headquarters in Redmond, Washington USA.
Design Expo began as a partnership between Microsoft and Apple to integrate technology into the curriculum of design schools worldwide. The goal is to build long term relationship with the design schools and build community across schools.
For example, one of our success stories is when ESDI (Brazil_ and TU Eindhoven (Netherlands) started an exchange program after the professors met at Design Expo. Some Design Expo students also go on to do great startups, such as the founder of Foursquare, Dennis, who was a student at NYU in Design Expo’s first year.
To date, around 50 design schools have participated, such as: RISD, Stanford, USC, UCLA, Bezalel (Israel), IDC (Israel), IIT Mumbai (India), NID (India), Tsingua (China), Hong Kong Polytechnic, Delft, UMEA, Dundee (Scotland), TU Einhoven, Iberamericano (Mexico), Northumbria and many more.

Engineering Expo 2017 – RFID GATE ACCESS SYSTEM PROJECT
Today, attendance of students is a very important issue at schools. All parents have anxiety about attendance of their children. Nowadays, School is considered as a second home. Students, teachers, staff spent most of the time in school. The number of violence incidences in schools is increasing. This happens because schools do not take the security seriously. Most schools feel that they are unsafe by just security guard in the entrance. Actually They are not secured. Strangers who were not students find a way of going inside the school. In other cases, student can also enter the school without wearing uniforms or sometimes if they forget to bring their own ID card, they try to borrow other student’s identification card. So the current attendance system lacks of automation, insecure, and inefficient. Our project will fix the security problems controlling student, parent, and staff entry via RFID ID cards to school with displaying their photo and name on a screen through HDMI. And then security guard will match the students, parents, and staff with the picture on the screen. If they match, they can get it in. if not, they cannot get in the school.
